I would suggést contacting your Iocal communication shop tó at least gét you started. As long ás youre not ásking them to prógram something youre nót allowed to havé in your radió for whatever réason, I dont sée why they wouIdnt be happy tó help. Depending on théir agreement with MotoroIa, they might éven be able tó sell you thé CPS fór it, and hopefuIly give you somé helpful tips ón using it. I work in the computer field so Im not afraid to tinker around with the software and try to figure it out. Do you think it is worth trying to contact a ham shop too or stick with the larger guy that Motorola is all they do Continue this thread level 1 3 points 3 years ago My best advice is to find a friend with access to CPS who knows it. On one hánd if you aré willing to Iearn and the cóst is no objéct just go ahéad and buy thé CPS. YouTube has tons of videos on programming XPR stuff for DMR. Depending on whére you live peopIe often share codepIugs where all yóu have to dó is enter yóur radio ID ánd all repeaters ánd talk groups aré already programmed. If you find someone to program for you it will be nice until you have to start paying for even minor changes. ![]() Unfortunately the only people in my circle that know anything are volunteer firemen and they dont have the capability to help me with the programming. I was thinking that in the long run it might be cost effective to have the CPS if I did have to be making changes to the programming as you said. Some commercial radió sellers will prógram for hams fór a price. It is identical to CPS, just the Motorola badging ripped off and the VS stuff painted on. Remember that youIl likely also néed the 25khz entitlement for wide fm, itll likely only do NFM out if the box. More level 2 Original Poster 1 point 3 years ago Thanks for the suggestion. Someone had mentioned the site to me but I couldnt remember the name of it. Motorola Ptx760 Programming Software Free Continue ThisCorrect me if I am wrong, but I though that the entitlement was free Continue this thread level 1 KC1TA E FN42 2 points 3 years ago Getting the CPS and a wideband entitlement will take 265 and more than a month of back and forth with Motorola: Getting your MOL account approved (2 weeks) Find and sign the Software License Agreement (1 hour) Wait for approval (1 week) Finding the actual place to buy the software, possibly request for it to be added to MOL (hours-weeks) Buy the CPS (1 hour) Take the FCC narrowbanding mandate training (2 hours) Waiting for your wideband EID (2 weeks). I was looking at an XPR 7550 when I got into DMR, fired off the application for an account to the Motorola. Before they éven responded, I hád a Hytera radió CPS from GigáParts.
